What Is a FiveM MLO?
MLO stands for “Map Layout Object” — a custom interior or exterior building added to your FiveM server that isn’t part of the base GTA V map. MLOs are what turn an empty GTA V shell (a building with no interior) into a real, usable location: a police station your officers can actually walk into, a mansion your roleplayers can live in, a restaurant with a working kitchen.
How to Choose a FiveM MLO
A few things matter more than screenshots when picking an MLO for your server:
- Optimization — a poorly optimized MLO can hurt your server’s FPS for every player near it, not just the ones inside.
- Prop count and collisions — more detail isn’t always better if it comes with broken collisions or floating props.
- YMAP vs MLO interior — exterior-only map additions (YMAPs) are different from full walkable interiors; make sure you’re buying what you actually need.
- Framework fit — most MLOs work regardless of ESX/QBCore/standalone, but job-specific interiors (like a police MLO) may need matching script support.
